PDF X/3 could be good enough for most jobs, but you should know their limitations, for example if you use a lens or transparency on a vector object it will be converted to bitmap. Using compatibility with newest versions of Acrobat will preserve the vector and the lens (that means, you could edit it and modify if you need). Also, if you use a big size bitmap it could be divided on several small bitmaps. No problem for print, but if you need to edit it it's a big problem
