I think we should also mention , for completeness, the Mesh fill bug whereby a transparent mesh will default to CMYK (white as it happens) when you apply a colour (however it is done) to a node. Even with all defaults set to RGB. The workround is to give the object an RGB fill prior to applying a mesh. We have also reported the bug (a long while ago as it happens) whereby a mesh fill applied to a transparent object acquires a white fill on applying any colour to a node.
