I wonder why nobody actually answered this question, instead saying the spacebar is binded to something elseor to just use the middle mouse button. I just recently moved to CorelDraw from Illustrator as well so if anything, I totally understand the desire to make CorelDraw react in much more familiar ways, if anything, to increase productivity ( if you use it for professional purposes ). Personally, I found the spacebar is only used in conjunction with the Ctrl key ( Ctrl+Space : Toggle Pick State ) and no actual commands are assigned to just the spacebar itself so I wasn't the least bit sad to rebind it. Now, the spacebar behaves exactly like Illustrator in CorelDraw. Here's how you can do just that : In CorelDraw, go into Edit > Customization, choose Customization on the left and in the Commands windows, in the drop-down menu there, make sure to choose "View". Scroll down, find "Pan" in the list and click it. The icon should look like a white hand with a grey circle on the bottom right and the tooltip help box should read "Pan One-Shot". On the right, click on the "Shortcut Keys" and make sure the Shortcut Key Table's drop-down menu is set to "Main". Under Shortcut Assignment, click in the "New Shortcut Key" box and press the spacebar once. The word "Space" should appear. Click the "Assign" button, click Ok and you are done. Now, while keeping the spacebar pressed down, you can pan around your document and upon release, will go back to the previously used tool, just like Illustrator. Enjoy ! Note : Another Pan entry can be found if you select "Toolbox" in the drop-down menu but this one's icon has no grey circle and is just regular Pan which upon being selected, does NOT go back to the previously used tool so don't pick that one.
