Another way to look at it is that perceptual keeps the relative values evenly altered and hence the overall tone of the colors' relationships even. With relative , one can loose tone definition between colors that the upper values are brought down to. I personally do not believe that one can absolutely use one system versus the other. It can depend on the image. Which is why I mostly edit images in an image editing application and judge the effect of either if I have any doubt. But in general, I bring values into check (for the most part) using the image editing application prior to any process that may alter those colors. Mike
