My car is not the same color when viewed in the daylight versus under fluorescent lamps at night. It also wouldn't be the same color if under incandescent lamps of 4000 kelvin versus 8500 kelvin versus daylight versus Mercury vapor lamps versus ... Neither are your prints. Solid inks like my Xerox Phaser are also affected by lighting, though less so than my two inkjets. The jobs I just got back from offset are also a different shade of color from here in my now fairly dark home office to outside in daylight--I just had them outside and now here in the office the colors are different shades. Are they actually different? No. But the ability of the mind to perceive/resolve color changes with the lighting.
