Hi Ross, They are not my theories. I get my theories from university text books. I don't need thirty pages of hot air without a single diagram. I have no idea what you are driving at. You seem to be making a big deal out of some minor points. Just where are "my" theories incorrect. Are you suggesting that the conversion to sRGB from XYZ is incorrect. It comes from a text book written by a professor at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. Are you going to start that old nonsense that practical experience on an offset printing press contradicts established university text books. Do you understand what those equations say. No amount of small talk will over-ride their meaning. Did you read my post on CMY. Yes. I know you can add some minor points to it. So what. The post describes the fundamentals of why process CMY appears to be subtractive to human vision. I can't make any sense out of your explanations. The profiles for non-hardware devices do not use look up tables. Where did you get that misinformation. The profile for the conversion from XYZ to sRGB are those nine numbers in the diagram. There may be additional nine numbers for different rendering intents plus some small overhead. That's why the sRGB specification is only 14 KBytes. It would be megabytes if it were a look up table. The gamma implementation is done in look up tables -- usually in the video card. Am I allowed to post the reasons for gamma implementation without a lot of diatribe about whether it is required to open a digital photo in CDGS. Did you go back and look at the thread posted by retzcat. Go back and read Milisock's insulting remarks at the start of each post in this thread. Why in the world are you covering for him. David Milisock is an obnoxious, insulting, ignorant fool. Phil
