Adobe RGB, sRGB, wide gamut CMYK, ECI RGB as well as LAB color spaces are called theoretical because they are laboratory created and don't represent any devices. Display color spaces are device spaces, they have a gamma correction as well as white point and linearization corrections that pertain to a specific display and video card combination. The CMYK profiles (color spaces) in general use as working spaces such as USweb coated, GRACOL and others are also theoretical as they do not actually pertain to any specific device. They're just made up in a laboratory. A CMYK device profile would be specific for an individual device literally, a printing press, digital printer or ink jet. There are another class of profile called device link profiles, they are not supported buy Corel, Adobe or any other graphic application they are specific to device conversion work flows, in prepress and do no rely on LAB or XYZ connection space for conversions, they are direct CMYK to CMYK conversions. Ever since X5 came out you have posted how impossible the color management dialogs that are nearly universal in the industry are to understand and now you show me this equation that makes color space perfectly clear. Okay! [:D]
